Q: I don’t think our family will be able to participate this year, but we would like to visit the fair and see the other exhibits. Is that possible?
A: Absolutely! We are hoping to fill the building with homeschoolers, even those who are not participating with a project.
Q: Is there an admission fee to visit the history fair?
A: No. It is free and open to the public. We will have several speakers and exhibitors on hand with activities for the children. There may be a small fee for some activities. Once we receive that information from exhibitors, we will add it to the website. Regardless, there will be plenty to see and do that is free of charge.
Q: What will my child be doing the day of the fair? Do you have activities planned?
A: Yes! We are working with several organizations in the area and plan to have many historical demonstrations and stations where activities will be planned. In addition, the living history performances and media documentaries will be ongoing throughout the day. We also hope to have musicians, guest speakers, and a celebrity appearance! More details on organizations that will be joining us at the fair will be released in the coming weeks.

Q: Where do we park on the MSU campus?
A: Parking is FREE to visitors on the day of the fair. Details regarding the specific location for parking will be posted on the website and Facebook as soon as they become available to the organizers.
Q: Are students eligible to enter multiple projects in different categories?
A: Yes. The scholarship and research required for one project will likely keep most students busy. However, if a student would like to do both an exhibit and a paper, he is not restricted from doing so. Keep in mind that unique research and scholarship will be required for each project.
Q: Are several students allowed to work on a project together?
A: Not this year. However, students are allowed to have a cast for media projects and living history demonstrations. If we get a large number of people requesting group projects, we will add a group category next year.
Q: What are the worksheets?
A: The worksheets are to be submitted along with the project. If your student is doing a paper or documentary, it will need to be completed on September 26, 2014. If you are doing an exhibit or historical performance, you need to submit the worksheet on October 10, 2014. Students in the junior division are asked to complete worksheets for each project. These worksheets help develop the skills necessary to compose a process paper and an annotated bibliography, which will be required of them if they choose to do more advanced scholarship in the senior division in the future.
Q: I can’t find the worksheets for the senior division. Where are they?
A: Students in the senior division will not complete worksheets with their projects, as they are required to complete process papers (except for historical paper entries) and annotated bibliographies with their projects. See the guidebook for more information. For examples, please refer to the Resources tab or click here.
Q: I need help with filling out the worksheet with my child. I am not sure what answers you are looking for on some of the questions. Is there a place I can get help?
A: Sure! Please look at the guidebook (available on the website) for the junior division. There is a section which walks you through the worksheet question by question.
Q: I would like to print out the guidebook and worksheet, but don’t have a working printer. Is there a way I can get a hard copy?
A: Yes. At the bottom of the registration form, there is a box which you can check if you need hard copies of documents to be mailed to you.
Q: I am involved with an organization concerned with history. I would like to have a presentation or a display table at the fair. Who do I contact about arranging this?
A: Please contact the Homeschool History Fair of the Ozarks Coordinator, Angie Piercy, at [email protected] or the Homeschool History Fair of the Ozarks Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator, Cindy Shields, at [email protected].
Q. Will tables be made available for my child's exhibit?
A. Yes. Tables will be available for set up on the day of the fair. Each table should be capable of accommodating two exhibits, if all exhibits conform to fair guidelines.
Q: If we participate in the fair, are we required to stay all day? We want to come but have a few other commitments that day.
A: No. You are welcome to stay all day, but you are also free to drop off your project at 8:00 a.m. and return at 4:00 for the awards ceremony.
Q: Who do I make a check out to for my entry registration?
A: Checks may be made out to Angie Piercy or the Homeschool History Fair of the Ozarks
