All
projects in the junior division will require a completed Junior Division
Worksheet at the time of entry submission.
Worksheets may be found here. All entrants and parents are
strongly advised to consult the Parent/Student Guidebook. The guidebook
provides more detailed information regarding the entries, a step-by-step
instruction guide for completing the worksheet, valuable definitions, and a
list of special categories. It should answer any questions you may have
regarding the fair.
There are five fair categories:
Historical paper. Entries in this category may include research papers, poetry, short stories, fictional diaries.
Historical exhibition. Entries in this category include trifold posters, dioramas, collections, interactive displays, artwork.
Media documentary. Entries in this category include short films, slide shows, Power Point presentations.
Historical Web site.
1. Web sites should not contain more than 750 visible, student-composed words.
2. The required home page must include the names of participants, entry title, division, and the main menu that directs viewers to the various sections of the site. All pages must be interconnected with hypertext links.
3. Each multimedia clip may not last more than 45 seconds. Narration may only be used for direct quotes and primary sources. All multimedia must be stored within the site; you may not use embedded material hosted elsewhere.
4. The content and appearance of a page cannot change when the page is refreshed in the browser. Random text or image generators are not allowed.
5. Historical websites URLs and the worksheets must be submitted for judging by September 26, 2014. Projects should be sent to the fair coordinator, Angie Piercy, electronically at [email protected]. If using the postal service, the URL and worksheet should be mailed to Angie Piercy – Homeschool History Fair of the Ozarks Coordinator, 1303 South Maryland, Springfield, Missouri 65807.
Living History Performance. Entries include monologue in costume, dramatic reading of a letter, or a short skit portraying a historical event or figure.
There are five fair categories:

- Length for novices is 250-1000 words. Length for apprentices is 500-1000 words.
- Footnotes and/or internal documentation are not required. If direct quotations are used, citations are recommended.
- Entries should be typed (double-spaced) or neatly written on plain 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
- Papers must be submitted
by September 26, 2014 (note, this is 2 weeks before the fair) to Angie Piercy
either electronically at [email protected] or via U.S. Mail at
1303 S. Maryland, Springfield, MO 65807.
If you are mailing the paper, please include 4 copies.
Historical exhibition. Entries in this category include trifold posters, dioramas, collections, interactive displays, artwork.
- Entries should conform to the following size requirements-no larger than 40 inches wide, 30 inches deep, and 6 feet high.
- Media devices (tape recorders, projectors, computers) used in conjunction with your display should not run more than 3 minutes and are subject to a 500-word limit.
- All text that appears as part of the entry, including titles, subtitles, captions, timelines, etc. are subject to a 500-word limit. Dates will count as one word.
- Historical
exhibitions must be submitted the day of the fair, October 10, 2014, between
8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Please note, set
up should be complete by 9:00 a.m., so please plan to arrive in time to
successfully accomplish this.
Media documentary. Entries in this category include short films, slide shows, Power Point presentations.
- Documentaries should be no longer than 10 minutes in length. An additional 5 minutes to set up and 5 minutes to remove equipment will be allowed. Parents will be permitted to assist with equipment.
- Students must provide narration, voice-over, and dramatization.
- At the conclusion, please include a list of acknowledgements and credits for sources used.
- Documentaries must be submitted by September 26, 2014 (note this is 2 weeks before the fair) to Angie Piercy either electronically at [email protected] or via U.S. Mail at 1303 S. Maryland, Springfield, MO 65807. If you are mailing the project, please include 3 copies of the dvd.

- The title and names of the cast should be the only announcement prior to the performance.
- Use of media devices is permitted. A written script is not required. Reading from a script during performance is permitted.
- Costumes are encouraged.
- Performances will be judged at the fair on October 10, 2014. A schedule with your performance time will be sent to you prior to the fair.
